Bourjois Kabuki Brush: Review

I'll be honest, not until a long time ago I wasn't too much into using brushes for everything that I did with my face. Indian girls usually grow up looking at their moms and most of our moms rarely used brushes for doing makeup. My mother isn't really into makeup. The maximum that you will see her with will be maybe a light lipstick and eyeliner. And this is when she is required to dress up for an occasion! Otherwise, she is what I call a natural beauty :)

Foundations, especially, were never applied with brushes. I have grown up seeing my mother mixing a little bit of liquid foundation with her moisturizer and applying it (a concept which has evolved into 'BB Creams' today)!

However, ever since I started reading about makeup and seeing others do it, I started realizing that sometimes the right tool can make a world of difference to your look! I will be doing a post later to talk about this more, but for today I am reviewing one of my first makeup brushes that I bought! It has been a year since I have been using it and there has been no turning back ever since.

PRICE: Rs. 530
I bought it from HERE

WHAT BOURJOIS SAYS

Bourjois' make-up brushes are ultra-soft and high quality - enabling easy application and a professional result every time.

Perfect for use at home or on the move the short handle means it's small enough to fit in your handbag, but with the long soft bristle head it is perfect for use with bronzers, powders and blushers.

MY EXPERIENCE

As mentioned earlier, this was one of the first makeup brushes that I purchased. It would not have been right to review it then because of my limited experience but now, after around a year of trying different brushes I can say that this is one of my favorite brushes in my vanity!

The Bourjois Kabuki brush is a short, stout brush which looks more like a brush my dad uses for shaving! It has a short handle for a sturdy hold and long, thick, tightly packed bristles for the smoothest, most even application!
The bristles are super soft and don't shed which is one of the best things about this brush! I hate it when I apply my products using a brush and end up looking like a cat walked all over my face.
Even after washing the brush several times, it has managed to retain it's initial shape and softness.

The Bourjois Kabuki brush is best used for applying powders, bronzers and blushers. I use it to set my foundation with a loose powder and to apply blush. However, I like to experiment with different techniques, so I did use it to apply my regular liquid foundation as well and let me tell you, it worked like a charm.

The only con I would say would be the small plastic pouch it comes in. It is unattractive and super easy to lose!  Unfortunately I don't have a picture to share since I have already lost mine :/

PROS
1. Relatively cheap as compared to other high-end brushes
2. Super soft bristles
3. Does not shed
4. Easy to carry around in your purse!
5. Short handle makes it sturdy to hold and use

CONS
1. The plastic pouch it comes in
2. Availability is an issue (most of the online sites have listed it as out of stuck and even in stores it is usually unavailable)

DO I RECOMMEND IT?
Yes! For beginners and experts alike, this is one must-have product in your vanity. The soft, tightly packed bristles make application of powders and blushes a dream! No more patchy blushes! Get ready for smooth, even application.
If maintained properly, this brush will last you a long time, given that it does not shed or lose it's shape.

OVERALL RATING: 9.5/10 (-0.5 for the plastic pouch!)
